Bentley’s Road to Recovery with the Scootboot TheraRide
Recently, we heard from Klara, a proud horse owner who wanted to share her experience with us.
Her horse, Bentley, has been on an incredible journey of recovery, comfort, and newfound energy, all supported by his Scootboot TheraRides.
Here’s what Klara had to say:
“We are loving the TheraRide Scootboots!! They have been such a game changer in my horse’s recovery the past month. They’re surprisingly quick and easy to put on, take off and adjust. Bentley’s story began with thin soles and old laminitis damage that was slowly growing out. After a corrective trim to fix moderate rotation, Bentley’s vet and farrier both recommended daily gentle exercise to support healing, but movement was difficult for him. Even walking on hard or gravelly ground was uncomfortable.
“There were a couple weeks where I could only free walk him, as it was obvious he was so sore post-trim. Bentley has borderline IR, and the laminitis was a symptom of that. We changed up his diet, helped him lose around 100–200 lbs, and with the TheraRides, he’s finally able to move comfortably again.”
Now, Bentley is thriving. With the support of his trimmer, vet, and his Scootboot TheraRides, he’s been able to get back to what he loves most: trail riding and just being a happy, active horse again.
“With Scootboots, Bentley now plows through gravel on the way to the arena and walks to the park, over roadways, packed sand and rocks, like it’s no different than loose dry sand. The easy trail loop that used to take us 1.5 hours now only takes about an hour, more in line with what a healthy horse would do.”
And the improvements don’t stop there.
“We were able to do three unbroken laps of smooth pacing in the arena earlier this month, something we haven’t done in a year! He’s no longer stiff on his right side, and I’m convinced the Scootboots have helped just as much as the trim.”
When Klara first met Bentley, he was known as “more whoa than go.” Now, she’s having to slow him down!
“Scootboots were the final missing link in Bentley’s recovery care. You guys helped make my horse act more like the 8-year-old he is! We’re keeping him happy, moving, and mentally stimulated, and he’s even shown me a beautiful slow-motion rocking chair canter under saddle. I’ve had to discourage it for now, but it lets me know he’s feeling so much better.”
For now, Bentley will keep wearing his TheraRides as his hooves continue to strengthen, but Klara looks forward to transitioning to regular Scootboots in the future.
