What photos should I take to size for Scootboots?
Please prepare FOUR pictures per hoof and use a measuring tape for picture 1 and 2 - this helps us ensure your horse gets the best size possible.
We recommend asking a friend to help you take these photos as you will need to hold the hoof steady, hold the measuring tape and hold the camera.
Length Photo
Important: Start the tape at zero on the toe, making sure the tape is straight down the centre of the hoof.
Hold the camera directly above the hoof.
Width Photo
Important: Measure across the widest point of the hoof.
Hold the camera directly above the hoof.
Front View Photo
We will need to see an accurate angle of the hoof walls.
Hold the camera at ground height.
Side View Photo

Any questions?
How do I measure my horse's hooves for Scoot Boots?
Measure the length from the tip of the toe to the heel buttress and the width across the widest part of the hoof. Ensure measurements are taken within two weeks of a fresh trim for accuracy.
Can I use the same size Scoot Boots for all four hooves?
A horse’s rear hooves are often narrower in shape compared to the front hooves, so they usually require a Scoot Boot Slim size. Our Scoot Slims function exactly like our Scoot Regulars except they are more suited to narrower back hooves and slightly contracted hooves.
The majority of horses only require Scoots on their front hooves unless their hooves are being transitioned to barefoot, naturally sensitive or travelling long distances or over extreme terrain.
Can I adjust Scoot Boots if they're slightly loose or tight?
Yes, adjustments can be made using different strap settings or adding pads. For significant fitting issues, consult the Scootboot team for guidance.
How should I try on my new Scoot Boots on my horse?
When you receive your Scootboot, try them on to check sizing before you ride. Boot up on a dry and clean hoof, on a dry, clean and soft surface such as a large rubber mat or piece of carpet. This will prevent your Scoots from becoming dirty or marked. Only use one Scoot Boot to confirm the fit for both of your horse’s hooves.
To confirm the fit of your boots check out our Fitting Page. Contact our Sizing Team at sizing@scootboots.com if you have any questions or you are unsure of the fit.
