Q: Sarah, you recently won the High Point Barefoot Award in the Australian Brumby Challenge at Equitana. Can you tell us about that experience?

Sarah: Absolutely! Competing in the Australian Brumby Challenge was an incredible journey.

Winning the High Point Barefoot Award was especially meaningful because it highlighted how well Brumbies can perform without traditional shoes. 

I placed 4th overall and 3rd in the Freestyle category, but the barefoot aspect was a big win for me personally.

Q: Brumbies are known for having strong, tough hooves. Do they even need hoof care or boots like Scootboot?

Sarah: This is a common misconception! 

While Brumbies do have naturally tough hooves in the wild, once they transition to domestic life, their needs change. 

In the wild, they self-trim by constantly moving over varied terrain. 

But in a domestic setting, their hooves don’t always wear down evenly, and they may encounter surfaces they wouldn’t choose for themselves—like gravel roads or rocky trails.
