Supporting Our Community with RDA Tasmania

On Saturday, 14th December, Mel Curtain and Rachel Dean from Scoot Boot proudly attended the Tasmanian Riding for the Disabled (RDA) End of Year Presentation at the RDA grounds in Glenorchy, Tasmania.

The event was a celebration of the incredible skills, confidence, and achievements of the participants as they navigated obstacle courses alongside their therapy horses—Cadbury, Clyde, and a beautiful Gypsy Cob. It was truly heartwarming to witness the joy and connection between riders and their equine partners, highlighting the vital role these horses play in the program.

At Scoot Boot, we are committed to supporting organisations that align with our values of equine care and community impact. Through our Giving Back Program, Scoot Boot proudly donates $1,000 annually to RDA Tasmania to assist in their ongoing and meaningful work. We are also honoured to provide Scoot Boots for the therapy horses, ensuring they are comfortable and protected as they perform their vital and heartwarming therapy work.

Key Highlights of the Day

One of the most rewarding parts of the event was connecting with so many dedicated individuals who contribute to RDA Tasmania’s success:

  • The participants and their therapy horses, who inspired us with their confidence, determination, and teamwork.
  • Stephanie Mirowski (Chair), Claudia Nevah (Executive Officer & State Coaching Coordinator), Iresh Ekanayke (Finance), and Rachael Treasure (RDA Ambassador), whose leadership and passion drive the mission of RDA Tasmania.
  • Janet Buckerfield, a committed veterinarian and volunteer who dedicates countless hours each week to supporting RDA Tasmania’s horses and programs.
  • Don Malshan, a talented photographer from Platypus Eye Media who beautifully captured the event.

A Sense of Community

We were warmly welcomed into the RDA Tasmania community and thoroughly enjoyed a BBQ lunch prepared by the hardworking volunteers. It was a privilege to experience firsthand the dedication and passion that brings this organisation together and to witness the positive impact RDA Tasmania has on the lives of so many riders and their families.

At Scoot Boot, we believe in empowering both horses and riders, and we are proud to support RDA Tasmania’s mission. We look forward to continuing this partnership into 2025.
