Hooves Across the Steppe: Alisha Franklin Takes on the Gobi Gallop in Scootboots
Alisha’s Mongolian horse, with his striking shoulder marking, is more than just a mount—he’s a symbol of loyalty, courage, and the spirit of the steppe.
When we talk about freedom at Scootboot, we picture wind in your hair, hooves on open ground, and the connection between rider and horse carrying you across unforgettable landscapes. Few journeys embody that spirit more than the Gobi Gallop—and this year, we’re proud to be a part of it.
We’re thrilled to announce our sponsorship of Alisha Franklin, who is riding in the 2025 Gobi Gallop—a 700-kilometre charity endurance ride across the vast, untamed Mongolian steppe. The ride supports the Veloo Foundation, raising funds for at-risk children and families living near the Ulaanbaatar rubbish dumps.
But this isn’t just another long-distance trek. This is a bold, physically demanding, emotionally charged experience—where riders push themselves to the limit alongside some of the toughest horses on earth.
A Rare Bond: One Rider, One Horse
Unlike most riders, who are paired with horses only days before the event, Alisha was offered the rare opportunity to purchase her own purebred Mongolian horse. Though they’ve only just met in person, this horse is now hers—a partner she’ll rely on throughout the journey.
And he’s no ordinary horse. With a dramatic shoulder marking, steeped in Mongolian legend as a symbol of courage and loyalty, this gelding has already captured hearts. Local herdsmen were proud to see him chosen—and are equally excited to see how Scootboots perform on this sacred, storied terrain.
Why Scootboots?
Mongolia’s steppe—a wide, treeless plain with extremes of weather and terrain—is not for the faint-hearted. Riders face rocky trails, river crossings, sandy plains, and vast distances between supplies. Traditional iron shoes are rare and hard to replace, making lightweight, durable, and adaptable hoof protection absolutely essential.
Alisha’s horse is fitted with Scootboots—offering comfort, traction, and flexibility across all terrain, without compromising the horse’s natural hoof function. It’s barefoot performance at its best, designed to handle one of the most challenging environments on Earth.
Touchdown in Mongolia: The Adventure Has Begun
Alisha arrived in Mongolia this week, and the final countdown is on. After months of preparation in Australia—logging training miles with her own horses in Scootboots—she’s now reunited with her new steed and continuing her training on the steppe.
From testing gear and building trust to adapting to the raw, rugged environment, every ride from here on in is part of the real journey. With her horse’s striking shoulder marking on display and his Scootboots firmly in place, this duo is already making an impression.
We’ll be following their progress closely—sharing Alisha’s updates, stories from the saddle, and scenes straight from the Mongolian wilderness.
